Agniveer recruitment at Visapur draws 8,017 candidates from Vidarbha and Gujarat

Agniveer Army recruitment has been under way since October 2 at the sports complex in Visapur, in Ballarpur taluka of Chandrapur district. The process for Agniveer posts in the Indian Army will continue until October 17. A total of 8,017 candidates from Vidarbha, other districts of Maharashtra and Gujarat are taking part.

Of these, 6,556 candidates have come from Vidarbha, 930 from other parts of Maharashtra and 531 from Gujarat. Candidates are showing considerable enthusiasm for the chance to serve the country by joining the Army.

The recruitment is being held under the supervision of Colonel Anshul Shrivastava, recruitment officer at the Army Recruiting Office, Nagpur. Candidates are being selected strictly as per the rules and standards laid down by the Indian Army. The district administration is providing the Army's recruitment team the necessary administrative and basic facilities.

Candidates who passed the written examination conducted earlier by the Army Recruiting Office, Nagpur, are now undergoing a physical fitness test and medical examination in the next stage. The recruitment is for the posts of Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, Agniveer Tradesman (Class 10 pass) and Agniveer Tradesman (Class 8 pass).

Under the guidance of District Collector Vasumana Pant, the district administration has made all the necessary arrangements for the recruitment. In line with the Army's rules, the recruitment is being conducted in a disciplined, transparent and smooth manner. The Collector held a review meeting of the departments concerned and gave the necessary instructions. These included directions on repair and cleaning of the sports complex, drinking water, toilets, uninterrupted electricity, law and order, medical services, fire safety, traffic arrangements, food facilities and the required manpower.

Coordination has been maintained for the arrangements among the police department, Zilla Parishad, Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, Ballarpur Municipal Council, Public Works Department, health department, power distribution department, transport department and other departments concerned. The Army contingent that has come for the recruitment is also being accommodated at the taluka sports complex in Visapur.

So that candidates coming from different districts face no difficulty, food has been arranged under corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds with the help of industrial companies. Twelve companies are involved: Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station, Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, Ballarpur Industries Limited, Dhariwal Infrastructure Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, GMR Energy Limited, Ornate Best Limited, Arvind Realty and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., KPCL, ACC Cement, Ambuja Cement and UltraTech Cement. The food arrangement is being planned in coordination with the District Supply Officer, Chandrapur.

So that candidates can easily get food, drink and daily necessities, paid stalls run by women's self-help groups have been set up outside the entrance of the sports complex through MAVIM and UMED. This has not only helped candidates but also given the women's self-help groups a business opportunity.

Shubham Dandekar, sub-divisional officer and district soldier welfare officer, said all the agencies concerned are working in coordination so that candidates face no problem during the recruitment. He said the district administration is committed to completing the entire recruitment in a transparent, safe and well-planned manner.
