The Agniveer Army recruitment process is under way at the sports complex in Visapur, in Ballarpur taluka of Chandrapur district. The recruitment began on October 2 and will continue until October 17. A total of 8,017 candidates from Vidarbha, other districts of Maharashtra and the state of Gujarat are taking part.

The candidates break down as follows: 6,556 from Vidarbha, 930 from other parts of Maharashtra and 531 from Gujarat. Candidates are showing great enthusiasm for the chance to serve the country by joining the Indian Army.

Candidates who passed the written examination conducted earlier by the Army Recruiting Office, Nagpur, are now undergoing physical fitness tests and medical examinations in the next round. The recruitment is being held for the posts of Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, Agniveer Tradesman (Class 10 pass) and Agniveer Tradesman (Class 8 pass).

Under the guidance of District Collector Vasumana Pant, the district administration has made all the necessary arrangements. The recruitment is being conducted transparently, in accordance with Army norms. To ensure that it is safe, disciplined and smooth, Collector Pant held a review meeting of the departments concerned and issued the necessary instructions. These include directions on repair and cleaning of the sports complex, drinking water, toilets, uninterrupted power supply, law and order, medical services, fire safety, traffic management, food arrangements and the required manpower.

So that candidates coming from other districts face no difficulty, food has been arranged with the help of industrial companies under corporate social responsibility (CSR). A total of 12 companies are involved: Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station, Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, Ballarpur Industries Limited, Dhariwal Infrastructure Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, GMR Energy Limited, Oment Best Limited, Aurobindo Realty and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., KPCL, ACC Cement, Ambuja Cement and UltraTech Cement. The food arrangements are being planned in coordination with the District Supply Officer, Chandrapur.

Through MAVIM and UMED, paid stalls run by women's self-help groups have been set up outside the entrance of the sports complex so that candidates can easily get food, drink and daily necessities. This gives candidates convenience and also gives the women's self-help groups a business opportunity.

Coordination has been maintained among the police department, Zilla Parishad, Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, Ballarpur Municipal Council, Public Works Department, health department, power distribution department, transport department and other departments concerned. Accommodation for the Army team that has come for the recruitment has also been arranged at the taluka sports complex in Visapur.

The recruitment is being held under the supervision of Colonel Anshul Shrivastava, recruitment officer of the Army Recruiting Office, Nagpur, in accordance with the rules and norms laid down by the Indian Army. Candidates are being selected entirely according to Indian Army rules, while the district administration is providing the Army recruitment team with the necessary administrative and basic facilities.

Subhash Dandekar's name aside, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and District Soldier Welfare Officer Shubham Dandekar said all the agencies concerned are working in coordination so that candidates face no difficulty during the recruitment. He said the district administration is committed to completing the entire recruitment process in a transparent, safe and planned manner.
