Actress Chinmayee More, who plays the lead role of Radhika in the Zee Marathi serial 'Dhakatya Sunbai', spoke on women's strength on the occasion of Navratri. She also spoke of her mother's contribution to her success and became emotional while doing so.
Navratri is considered a festival of strength, patience and womanhood. During these nine days, different forms of the goddess are worshipped. The goddess's power is not confined to the idol in a temple; it is present in every woman around, too. From a mother's affection to the determination of a woman striving to fulfil her dreams, women's strength shows itself in many forms.
More said that shakti is not only in the idol of the goddess but also in the heart, thoughts and work of every woman. A woman plays many roles in her life, such as daughter, wife, mother and sister, with ease. She feels that however difficult the circumstances, the strength to move ahead with her family along with herself is true women's strength.
More also said that in these times every woman should first of all have faith in herself. The self-confidence that gives wings to dreams, the self-respect that strengthens decisions and the courage to face adversity are a woman's real strength. Her message was that instead of standing in the shadow of others, every woman should build a distinct identity through her own work.
She appealed to girls and women not to keep a dream only in the mind, but to make it a goal and move ahead with determination. In her view, believing in oneself is the first step towards the goddess's power within.
Speaking of her journey, More said her path from dreaming to playing a lead role on screen has been built of hard work, trust and many small efforts. She said one should not stop on failure, and one's feet should stay on the ground on success.
Her mother has played a big part in this journey. Her mother raised her from childhood and stood firmly by her in every joy and sorrow. Her mother nurtured More's dreams as her own. She expressed the feeling that her mother's determination, sacrifice and values are behind where she stands today.
More said that in shaping her, her mother often set aside her own wishes but never let her dreams suffer any lack. Looking at her success, she feels her mother's struggle even more deeply. She said, "Behind the light of my success is a small flame tended by my mother!"
More's views bring out the true meaning of women's strength, whether it is a woman fighting for her dreams or a mother giving up her wishes for her children's future. On Navratri, along with bowing to the goddess's power, More gave the message to salute every woman who spreads light in her life through love, patience and determination.
