The ICC says applications for the India-Pakistan game in Johannesburg far exceed the stadium's capacity, and tickets will be allotted by random ballot.

The ICC has announced the Men's World Cup 2027, which begins in October next year. India and Pakistan, traditional rivals, will face each other in the tournament, and fans are already waiting for the contest.

The match will be played at the historic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. The response from cricket fans to tickets for it is said to be unprecedented.

Wanderers Stadium has room for 34,000 spectators in all. But for the India-Pakistan match alone, the ICC has received more than 8 million ticket applications. According to ICC figures, the number is about 8.4 million. That is many times the capacity of the stadium, and fans are competing fiercely for tickets.

With capacity limited and demand very high, not everyone can get a ticket. To distribute tickets with full transparency, a random ballot system is being used. Under it, lucky fans will be picked from among the applicants and given tickets, so that everyone has an equal chance.

India-Pakistan matches have always drawn great interest from cricket fans. Crowds of fans have rushed to buy tickets for this World Cup game. For the tournament as a whole, more than 120 million ticket applications have come in from 193 countries.

Fans around the world are enthusiastic about the match, and demand for tickets has broken all earlier records. For the World Cup final, to be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 21, about 7.9 million applications have been received so far. The India-Pakistan league match is thus drawing even more demand than the final.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan met at the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The match was played over six overs a side. Pakistan beat India, which disappointed Indian fans somewhat.
