47 candidates file 64 nominations for Sangli district bank polls; Vishal Patil, Vishwajeet Kadam among them

On the third day of nominations for the Sangli District Central Co-operative Bank election, 121 applications have been filed so far, with two days left.

Sangli: Political activity picked up on the third day of filing nominations for the Sangli District Central Co-operative Bank election. On Tuesday, 47 candidates together filed 64 applications. They include MP Vishal Patil and MLA Dr Vishwajeet Kadam, along with Sangramsinh Deshmukh, Devraj Patil, Shailaja Patil, Pooja Vishal Patil, Swati Sushant Khade, Asmita Balasaheb Honmore, Shashikant Nage, Bhalchandra Patil, Digvijay Suryavanshi and Raosaheb Patil.

By the end of Tuesday, the total number of nominations filed for the district bank had reached 121. Only two days remain for filing. Thursday, October 1, is the last day. Further applications from the main political groups are therefore likely in these final two days.

The societies constituency saw a crowd of big names. MP Vishal Patil, Pooja Vishal Patil, Shailaja Prakashbapu Patil, Bhalchandra Patil, Devraj Patil, MLA Dr Vishwajeet Kadam, Mahesh Pawar, Kakaso Kashid, Vinayak Mohite, Tanaji Mahind and Shivaji Patil filed nominations from it.

Six applications came from the women's constituency. They were filed by Pooja Vishal Patil, Chhaya Kharmate, Sheetal Pawar, Swati Sushant Khade, Asmita Balasaheb Honmore and Mandatai Lalaso Karande.

In the Scheduled Castes constituency, Arun Kamble, Prakash Kadam, Shashikant Nage, Mohan Vanakhande, Vilas Sarje and Tanaji Satpute filed nominations. In the Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes constituency, Gajanan Shendge, Vishnu Mane, Shankar Mane and Mukund Thombre submitted applications.

In the processing constituency, Amol Patil, Manoj Shinde, Pooja Patil, Vishal Patil and Swapnil Patil filed nominations. In the urban banks and credit societies constituency, Pooja Vishal Patil, Vishal Patil, Prof Mohan Vanakhande, Devraj Patil, Digvijay Suryavanshi, Raosaheb Patil and Swati Khade filed applications. In the other institutions constituency, Sunil Kabadge, Mohan Vanakhande and Shankar Mane submitted nominations.

With only two days left before the deadline, the political groups have stepped up their moves. Some candidates have filed from more than one constituency, so the number of candidates currently looks large. The nominations will first be scrutinised, followed by the withdrawal process, and the final list of candidates will then be announced. Only then will the real picture of the district bank election become clear.
