India Under-19 take control of second Test as Australia reach 86/4 at stumps on Day 2
Tanmay Balod took 6 for 32 as Australia were bowled out for 174, and India's 315 left the visitors 55 runs behind with six second-innings wickets in hand.
India Under-19 tightened their grip on the second unofficial Test against Australia Under-19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. At the end of the second day, Australia were 86 for 4 in 26 overs in their second innings. After India's first-innings total of 315, Australia Under-19 trail by 55 runs.
Australia lost the toss in the four-day match and had to bat first. Their first innings ended on just 174. At one stage they were 65 for 6, before Jacob Peitz and Charlie Henderson added 70 for the seventh wicket and took the team past 100.
Henderson top-scored in the innings with 37. Neil Patel made 31, Peitz 26 and Patrick Sullivan 20. For India, Tanmay Balod took 6 wickets for 32 runs, while Ayaan Akram took 2.
India's first innings began shakily, with 2 wickets down for 28. Captain Yashvardhan Chauhan (52) and Kushagra Ojha (29) then added 63 for the third wicket. Manal Chauhan (34) and Aryan Yadav followed with a 67-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Abhipray Biswas then scored 73 with 13 fours and Priyanshu Singh remained not out on 30, which helped India post a big total. Australian spinner Spencer Green took 7 wickets for 110 runs, while Thomas Vaseo took 2.
Australia's second innings suffered an early blow when Hayden Barbulovic was dismissed for 9. Neil Patel (3) and captain Matthew Lough (8) also returned to the pavilion soon after. Ellie Brain and Black Cattle then added 39 for the fourth wicket. Brain was out for 39, including 8 fours.
At stumps, Black Cattle (11) and Zed Hollick (12) were at the crease. All four wickets in this innings were taken by Tanmay, whose figures are 4 for 26.
Earlier, India had swept the three-match ODI series 3-0. India won the first Test of the series by an innings and 48 runs and lead the series 1-0.
