Satara District Central Co-operative Bank results threw up a tie to be settled by draw of lots, a four-vote win and a candidate who polled no votes.
The elections to the Satara district bank were watched across Maharashtra, and the results have thrown up several twists. One candidate has won by just 4 votes, another contest will be decided by a draw of lots, and one candidate polled zero votes. After the results, celebrations began in some camps while others were left disappointed. For some the outcome brought a ray of hope, while others have no option left until the next election.
The most interesting contest was in the Koregaon taluka society constituency. Sunil Mane of the Nationalist Congress Party got 44 votes. Sunil Khatri of the BJP also got 44 votes, resulting in a tie. A torn slip was set aside, which complicated the matter. One ballot paper was rejected, so the fate of the two candidates will now be decided by a draw of lots.
The Javali society contest was also quite interesting. The NCP's Vitthal Gole got only 8 votes, while the BJP's Dnyaneshwar Ranjane got 38 votes. Ranjane thus won by a margin of 30 votes.
In the Khandala society constituency, the NCP's Ajay Bhosale got 28 votes and the BJP's Sanjeev Gadhave got 21. Independent candidate Shamrao Gadhave did not get a single vote. Surprisingly, Shamrao Gadhave did not even get his own vote.
The Mahabaleshwar society constituency saw a close fight. The NCP's Rupali Rajpure got 8 votes, while the Shiv Sena's Sanjay More got only four votes. Rupali Rajpure won this close contest by four votes.
In the Patan society constituency, the Shiv Sena's Shambhuraj Desai won. He got 58 votes, while the BJP's Satyajit Patankar got 46 votes.
In the Man society constituency, the BJP's Jaykumar Gore won with 53 votes. The NCP's Manoj Pol got 14 votes and the Shiv Sena's Shekhar Gore got 7 votes.
