The secondary education department of the Zilla Parishad has made a change to the Diwali holidays for the academic year 2026-27 for schools in Pune district. The education department has issued an official circular on the matter.
The change applies to all recognised private secondary schools in the district. All schools have been ordered to function according to the new schedule, which means they must now follow the new dates instead of the old ones.
The education department had earlier issued a circular on May 18, 2026, which announced the Diwali holidays for Pune district schools from November 2, 2026 to Saturday, November 14, 2026. Those dates have now been partly altered.
According to the revised circular, the Diwali holidays will begin on Thursday, November 5, 2026 and continue until Wednesday, November 18, 2026. The holiday period has thus been pushed forward, so students and teachers will be on holiday until November 18.
The break covers the main Diwali festivals. The holidays for Dhanatrayodashi, Diwali Padwa (also known as Balipratipada) and Bhaubeej are included in it. These days fall on November 6, November 10 and November 11.
The three main public and local holidays falling on these important days will come within the new holiday period fixed by the education department. The festival holidays will not be given separately but are included in the new continuous break.
In short, the break earlier announced for November 2 to 14 will now run from November 5 to 18, 2026. Students and teachers of all recognised private secondary schools in Pune district should take note of the education department's revised circular. The department has made it clear that schools must act only according to the new schedule.
