Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police arrested a Nigdi man accused of running a mule-account network from Dubai with Chinese cyber criminals; two alleged aides were also held.

Pune, November 3, 2026: Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police, acting against an international cyber fraud gang, have arrested a 26-year-old man with the help of Interpol. He is accused of running the network from Dubai in collusion with Chinese cyber criminals.

The arrested man has been identified as Sumant alias Nanu Ravindra Dasare, a resident of Nigdi. He is accused of using rented (mule) bank accounts to route money obtained through cyber frauds worth crores of rupees. Police have also arrested two of his alleged associates in the case: Tushar Amraram Chaudhari (29) of Chikhli and Adarsh Santosh Waghmare (27) of Akurdi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohidas Pawar said the cyber police had registered a case relating to online fraud and the use of fake bank accounts, and the investigation began from there. Police uncovered the network that supplied the bank accounts and arrested Chaudhari and Waghmare.

During questioning, the two allegedly said they opened accounts in different banks and gave the details of those accounts to Dasare, who was working from Dubai. Dasare would divert money extorted from cyber fraud victims into these accounts. The two associates would keep their commission from it and send the remaining amount to Dubai.

A look-out circular (LOC) had been issued against Dasare under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey. He was detained in Dubai with Interpol's help. After he was sent back to India, Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swami and his team took him into custody at Mumbai airport.

The investigation revealed that Dasare initially worked for a cyber fraud operation in Dubai on a salary of 6,000 dirhams a month. He would phone and message victims for frauds carried out in the name of share trading and tasks. He received a 4 per cent commission on the amount defrauded.

He then allegedly began swiping international cards given by the Chinese accused at malls to buy expensive goods. Once he understood the entire method of the cyber fraud, he partnered with the Chinese directors and began taking a 20 per cent share of the defrauded money.

To keep the operation running smoothly, Dasare is accused of obtaining more than 150 bank accounts through Chaudhari and Waghmare. Police said he has admitted to earning more than Rs 1 crore from this illegal activity.

Pimpri Chinchwad police have so far registered 93 cases relating to online fraud and misuse of bank accounts. The latest arrests were made by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Ravikiran Nale and Police Inspector Digambar Gaikwad. The team included Assistant Police Inspectors Praveen Swami and Vaibhav Patil, and Sub-Inspectors Rohit Dolas, Sagar Poman, Prakash Katkade and Vidya Patil.
