The Anti-Corruption Bureau booked Kiran Shamrao Jadhav and his wife Sangeeta Jadhav and searched nine locations in Pune, Navi Mumbai and Satara district.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has carried out searches at nine locations connected to Kiran Jadhav, a deputy director in the state agriculture department, and his wife Sangeeta, after booking the couple for holding assets beyond their known income. The searches, which began on Monday morning, were still going on when the report was filed on November 3, 2026.

Separate ACB teams are working in Pune, Navi Mumbai and Satara district. According to the agency, Jadhav and his relatives hold farmland at 15 places. Investigators have also traced five flats in Pune, one flat in Navi Mumbai and three properties at Dahiwadi in Satara district. ACB Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande said the searches started once the case was registered, and that the teams are going through the properties and related documents.

The case was registered at Bund Garden police station in Pune. The complaint was lodged by Additional Superintendent of Police Ajit Patil. Further investigation has been given to Additional Superintendent of Police Arjun Bhosale, who will work under Sardeshpande's guidance. Jadhav's name is spelt Shyamrao in one record of the case and Shamrao in another.

The ACB says the couple's assets exceed their known sources of income by Rs 4,37,74,930, or over Rs 4.37 crore, which it puts at 128 per cent more than what they could legitimately have. The period examined runs from June 4, 1994 to December 2, 2025, a stretch of more than 31 years. For this check period, the agency assessed the couple's total income at Rs 3.40 crore and their expenditure at Rs 3.55 crore, and identified assets worth Rs 4.22 crore. On that basis it alleges unaccounted assets of Rs 4.37 crore. The ACB suspects the wealth was gathered through corrupt means and accuses the wife of helping to build it. The inquiry also covers documents relating to her assets.

The ACB had first held an open inquiry into the couple's income, property and financial dealings. The Director General ordered it on December 2, 2025, after BJP MLA Suresh Dhas raised allegations of irregularities and financial malpractice in the agriculture department in April 2025. His charges led to questions about how the department functions and about some transactions linked to licences.

Jadhav is originally from Dahiwadi village in Maan tehsil of Satara district. He took his BSc at the College of Agriculture, Pune, and his MSc at Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli. He joined government service as an agriculture officer on June 4, 1994, and has since held several senior posts in the department, including in Thane and Pune, where he served as deputy director of agriculture and superintending agriculture officer. He is now posted at the ATMA project office in Solapur, as deputy director and project director of the Agriculture Technology Management Agency. The couple, who were married on May 28, 1996, live at Kundan Park in Pune's Shivajinagar area.

The ACB will now look into where the couple's assets came from, how the money moved, and the circumstances in which the wealth was built up, including the wife's alleged part. Investigators will have to establish the full financial trail behind assets worth more than Rs 4.37 crore, and the case has brought the issue of alleged corruption in the agriculture department back into discussion.
