The Anti-Corruption Bureau alleges the couple amassed assets 128 per cent above their known income sources over more than 31 years.

The Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Kiran Shyamrao Jadhav, deputy director in the agriculture department, and his wife Sangeeta Kiran Jadhav. The couple is alleged to have accumulated assets 128 per cent more than their known sources of income.

According to the ACB complaint, the assets said to be in excess of their income are valued at Rs 4,37,74,930, or over Rs 4.37 crore. The case was registered at Bund Garden police station. The ACB had earlier conducted an open inquiry into the couple's income, property and financial transactions.

Jadhav is currently posted in Solapur as deputy director and project director of the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA). The couple lives at Kundan Park in Pune's Shivajinagar area.

The long period covered is the most notable aspect of the case. The ACB examined the couple's assets and earnings from June 4, 1994 to December 2, 2025, a span of more than 31 years. The inquiry allegedly found assets worth over Rs 4.37 crore that cannot be accounted for by their known income.

The agency suspects the assets were accumulated through corrupt means. Jadhav's wife is also named in the case, and is accused of helping accumulate assets disproportionate to income.

The case comes after BJP MLA Suresh Dhas raised allegations of irregularities and financial malpractice in the agriculture department in April 2025. Following his allegations, questions were raised about the department's functioning and some transactions linked to licences.

Taking note of the matter, the ACB Director General ordered an open inquiry into Jadhav's assets and financial transactions on December 2, 2025. The agency then examined the officer's and his wife's income, expenditure, investments and assets over the stipulated period, and subsequently registered the offence.

The complaint was filed at Bund Garden police station by Additional Superintendent of Police Ajit Patil. Further investigation has been handed to Additional Superintendent of Police Arjun Bhosale, and will be conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande.

The ACB will now examine the sources of the couple's assets, how the money was transacted, and the circumstances in which the alleged disproportionate wealth was accumulated. The wife's alleged role will also be investigated.

The case has brought the issue of alleged corruption in the agriculture department back into discussion. Investigators will now have to establish the full financial trail behind assets worth over Rs 4.37 crore.
