PMC tax department receives 7,805 property tax complaints in two months, resolves 93 per cent
The Pune Municipal Corporation's property tax assessment and collection department says it has disposed of 93 per cent of the complaints received over the past two months.
Pune, October 22, 2026: The property tax assessment and collection department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) received a total of 7,805 complaints through various channels over the past two months. The department has resolved 93 per cent of them, meaning most of the complaints received were disposed of within these two months.
The complaints were filed through PMC Care, the Right to Information (RTI) system, the Right to Service (RTS) platform, Aaple Sarkar and the Public Grievance (PG) portal. Citizens thus registered their complaints with the corporation through several channels, not just one. The total across all channels is 7,805, and all of them are from the past two months. The department has focused on disposing of complaints and clearing pending cases with the manpower available.
Many officers and employees of the department have been assigned work related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the census. This has limited the manpower available for the department's day-to-day work. Despite this difficulty, the department has continued its efforts to provide property tax-related services to citizens.
The department is also focusing on informing owners of properties that have recently been assessed for tax. This includes guiding them on how to pay the tax and resolving citizens' problems.
Property tax is a major source of income for the corporation. The department's aim is therefore to increase the corporation's revenue while providing citizens with easily accessible, transparent and timely service.
Ravi Pawar, head of the property tax assessment and collection department, said that officers and employees of the department are working in coordination with one another to provide citizens with more efficient and quality service.
The department is trying to handle the resolution of complaints, guidance to citizens and the increase in the corporation's revenue together.
