Pune's civic health officials say October's 843 confirmed dengue cases are the highest for any month of 2026, taking the total since January 1 to 2,486.
Dengue continued to spread in Pune in October. According to municipal corporation health officials, the city recorded 843 confirmed dengue cases in October alone. This is the highest figure for any single month in 2026 so far.
With this, the total number of confirmed infections in the city between January 1 and October 30 has reached 2,486.
The figures for the past four months show cases rising steadily. July had 366 cases, August 512 and September 662. October's count has overtaken all three of those months. Concern is being voiced in several parts of Pune over the growing spread of the mosquito-borne infection.
Aundh-Baner was the worst-affected ward in October, with 152 cases. Yerawada-Vadgaonsheri recorded 110 cases and Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar 92. Kesarnagar reported 74, Kothrud 73 and Nagar Road-Wagholi 71.
Looking at the whole year, Aundh-Baner also tops the figures from January 1 to October 30. It has recorded 364 confirmed cases, the most of any ward in the city. Kothrud follows with 302 and Nagar Road-Wagholi with 293.
Yerawada-Vadgaonsheri has recorded 247 cases so far this year, while Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar has 231. The figures show that the infection has not remained confined to one part of the city. It has spread across many residential areas.
The Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) insect control department report gives the count of suspected dengue cases separately. According to it, Pune recorded 709 suspected dengue cases during October. By the end of the month, the total of suspected cases this year stood at 2,372.
The counts of confirmed and suspected cases are thus separate. For confirmed cases, the October figure is 843 and the total from January to October 30 is 2,486.
