Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said on Sunday that he has removed a documentary from his social media handle. The documentary is about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani. Thackeray said he took the step after a "request" from the Mumbai Police Commissioner, that is, the Commissioner had asked him and he removed it afterwards.
Thackeray's claim comes only days after Mumbai Police sent legal notices to 24 account holders on X (formerly Twitter). They had shared the same controversial documentary, which was posted by tech entrepreneur Sabeer Bhatia. The notices thus went to people who had circulated the film posted by Bhatia.
MNS leaders reacted sharply. They asked whether there was any pressure on the police that led to such a request.
Thackeray said the film was made by Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia. According to him, it was put on X to make people aware, and it had already received more than 48 lakh views there.
