Mumbai Traffic Police have closed the bridge in both directions and announced diversions while the BMC demolishes and rebuilds it.

The Mogra Nullah bridge in Oshiwara, Mumbai, will be demolished and rebuilt. The work will be carried out by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Mumbai Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions in the area as a result.

According to an official traffic notification, the bridge on Pramod Navalkar Marg connects SAB TV Road with Link Road. For the demolition and reconstruction, it will remain closed to vehicles in both directions till May 31, 2027.

Mumbai Traffic Police issued the temporary notification on Monday. It says the bridge is in a dilapidated condition. The BMC's K/East ward will pull it down and rebuild it at the same site.

The closure falls within the Oshiwara traffic division and has come into force from the date the notification was issued.

According to the notification issued by Ajit Borhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Western Suburbs), all types of vehicles will be completely barred from the bridge from both sides while demolition and construction work continues. Police said the restrictions have been imposed for public safety and to avoid congestion in the area during construction.

Traffic Police have fixed alternative routes for light vehicles. On the southbound carriageway of SAB TV Road (Pramod Navalkar Marg), light vehicles coming from Lokhandwala Complex Road will have to turn left and then turn right at Hotel Empire. They can then reach their destination via Hotel Kalinga and New Link Road.

Light vehicles heading north on New Link Road will have to turn left at Hotel Kalinga. They can then turn left or right at Hotel Empire and reach their destination via Lokhandwala Complex Road.

Traffic Police have appealed to motorists to follow traffic signs, direction boards and the instructions of police personnel deployed in the area.

Motorists have also been advised to use only the designated alternative routes and to cooperate with the Traffic Police so that inconvenience is kept to a minimum while the bridge is rebuilt.
