Ghugghus, Chandrapur: A case of alleged illegal plotting and monetary fraud against people has come to light in Wani tehsil. A youth has submitted a written complaint to the Area General Manager of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Wani area, at Tadali. He has demanded an inquiry into the matter and action against those allegedly misusing the company's name.

According to the complainant, a resident of Chincholi and some others are alleged to be misleading people about the sale and purchase of agricultural land and plotting, invoking WCL's mining work and the Sector-9 project. The allegations are yet to be independently verified.

The complaint claims that the required permission from the revenue department to convert the agricultural land to non-agricultural (NA) use was not obtained. Questions have also been raised over whether layout approval or a sanctioned plan was obtained from the town planning department before the plots were carved out.

The complainant alleges that the agricultural land is likely being divided into small parcels and sold without completing the required legal process. In his view, buyers could later face legal and financial trouble.

The complaint also says people are being assured that the land will rise in value by being described as falling under WCL's Sector-9 project. The complainant fears such claims could induce people to buy the land. On this basis, WCL's administration has been asked to clarify whether the land has any real connection with the company's project. It also urges an inquiry into the allegations of misleading people through the alleged misuse of the company's name.

The youth has made two main demands in his application. First, WCL should clarify its official position on the alleged misleading of prospective land buyers in the company's name. Second, the complaint should be investigated against the person concerned, and administrative and police action taken as required.

The complaint letter bears the receipt stamp of the WCL Wani area office, dated October 13, 2026. However, no information is available on what action has been taken on the complaint so far.

In view of the case, land buyers are advised to check the plot's title documents, the 7/12 extract, the legal status of the land's use, the NA order, the sanctioned layout and the permissions of the competent authority before any transaction.

The question now is whether the WCL administration will investigate the complaint and state the true position of the land. People will also watch whether the revenue department and the town planning department examine the legality of the alleged plotting.
