Police in Chandrapur district have arrested a youth on the spot in the Temburda area, under Warora police station limits, for carrying a deadly sharp weapon without a permit. The incident took place on the night of September 27, 2026. A large sharp knife was seized from the accused.

According to police, Assistant Police Inspector Sharad Shyam Bhasme of Warora police station was on routine night patrol in Temburda with his team. The team included Police Constables Amol Navghare and Sukhraj Yadav, and police personnel Mahesh Gavture and Saurabh Kulte.

During the patrol, police received reliable information from a secret informant. The tip said a youth named Ashish Atram was moving around illegally with a sharp weapon near Ranjit Madavi's brick kiln, opposite Temburda Hudki on the Nagpur-Chandrapur highway.

Police acted immediately. Virendra Govindsing Chandel and Anand Vijaysing Kashyap were called from the bus stop at Mouza Temburda to act as panch witnesses. They were told the details, given a written notice and taken along. The police team and the two witnesses then raided the spot.

On reaching the brick kiln, police found a youth standing there in a suspicious state. They took him into custody and asked for his name and address. He gave his name as Ashish Sanjay Atram. He is 26 years old and lives in Temburda, Warora tehsil, Chandrapur district.

As his behaviour appeared suspicious, the college bag on his back was legally searched in front of the witnesses. Inside the bag, police found a highly lethal, sharp iron knife. The knife is 45.5 cm long in all. Its blade is 31 cm long and 7 cm wide at the middle, and the handle is 14.5 cm long. A total of ten points were found on both sides of the knife.

When questioned about the weapon, which is worth about Rs 1,000, it emerged that the accused has no valid licence or permit.

The police team prepared a panchnama of the scene and the seizure on the spot and took the weapon into custody. On the complaint of Assistant Police Inspector Sharad Bhasme, a case has been registered at Warora police station against Ashish Atram under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. Further investigation has been handed to Sub-Inspector Umakant Madhavrao Gaurkar.
