Youth dies after clash between two groups in Chalisgaon's Lonje village; 10 arrested

Two groups clashed in Lonje village of Chalisgaon taluka in Jalgaon district over a case of molestation of a woman, leading to a violent fight. Milan Sonawane, a young man who was seriously injured in the clash, died during treatment. The incident has caused a stir across the village.
The trouble began with a dispute over the molestation. The two groups first had an argument in Lonje village, which soon turned into a violent fight. People on both sides attacked each other with sticks and batons. The sudden violence caused panic in the village.
Sonawane was seriously injured in the clash. He was rushed to hospital, but died during treatment. Tension in the village rose further as news of his death spread.
A video of the clash has gone viral on social media. It shows the two groups attacking each other, and the situation appears to resemble a riot.
On receiving information, Chalisgaon Rural police reached the village immediately and brought the situation under control. Police had initially registered a serious case against 13 people. After Sonawane's death during treatment, police have added a murder charge to the registered case.
Police have so far arrested 10 accused in the case. The search for the remaining absconding accused is continuing.
Chalisgaon DySP Vijaykumar Thakurwad said police have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order. According to him, a determined search is on for the absconding accused and further investigation is under way. The incident has caused considerable unease in Lonje and the surrounding area.
