Youth, 18, beaten to death in Tuljapur; 17 accused said to be involved

An 18-year-old youth, Amir Patel, was brutally beaten to death in Tuljapur, the town of Maharashtra's family deity Goddess Tuljabhavani. Tension prevails across the town after the incident, and there is anger among residents.

Amir Patel died on the spot in the attack. Arbaz Sayyed, a youth who was with him, was seriously injured and has been admitted to the government hospital in Dharashiv, where he is undergoing treatment.

According to preliminary information, the deceased was said to be in a relationship with a girl from Tuljapur town. The dispute is said to have been settled earlier. Even so, the girl's family members and relatives are reported to have nursed anger over the old matter, hatched a conspiracy and attacked Amir.

The accused first held the members of the household hostage and then forcibly took Amir Patel away from the house. He was then beaten severely, and he died on the spot. The sequence of events has emerged through his companion Arbaz Sayyed, who was badly hurt in the attack.

The dispute over the relationship is said to be behind the case, and a total of 17 accused, directly and indirectly, are reported to have been involved in the crime. Tuljapur is currently abuzz with talk of "love jihad" in connection with the incident.

Given the gravity of the incident and the tension in the town, the police administration is on alert. The process of registering a case is moving quickly, and the police are examining every aspect of the matter closely and taking strict legal action. However, given the sensitivity of the case, the police have so far given no detailed official response.

For now, residents are watching the police investigation. Arbaz Sayyed continues to be treated in hospital, while Amir Patel's death has left his family and the area in grief and anger.
