A 28-year-old worker died on Tuesday morning at a waste-sorting plant in Nagpur's Wathoda area after his foot slipped and he was caught in a trommel machine.

A 28-year-old worker died in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning at a waste-sorting plant in Nagpur's Wathoda area. He was caught in a machine while at work. The accident took place at the SUSBDE company's plant on Bidgaon Road.

According to the information available, at around 7:30 am on Tuesday the worker had climbed onto the plant's trommel machine with a fellow worker, Akshay Belkar. The two had gone to clear waste that had collected on the machine. While the cleaning was under way, the worker's foot suddenly slipped and he was caught in the machine. He suffered serious injuries.

After the accident, company employees and the worker's relatives immediately took him to Bhavani Hospital in Pardi. Doctors there examined him and declared him dead. According to the doctors, he had died even before treatment could begin. The body was then sent to the medical hospital for post-mortem.

Tension built up at the plant after the incident. The deceased's relatives and people present at the spot expressed anger. Given the situation, company officials spoke to the family and assured them that appropriate compensation would be paid.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has given SUSBDE the work of waste sorting in the city. Questions are once again being raised about worker safety after the accident. It is being asked whether the necessary safety arrangements were in place while the machine was being cleaned, whether the machine had been switched off before the work began, and whether the workers had been given the necessary training and safety equipment.

Meanwhile, Wathoda police have begun the process of registering a case of accidental death on the complaint of the deceased's father. Police are investigating the circumstances in which the accident happened and whether safety rules were being followed at the plant.
