Woman and police give conflicting accounts over complaint at Korpana station
A Chandrapur district woman says police refused her complaint at Korpana station, but police say she declined to file one in writing.
A dispute has surfaced over a complaint at Korpana police station, with the complainant and the police giving conflicting versions of events. The woman has alleged that police did not accept her complaint, while police say she was asked to file a written complaint but refused to do so.
According to available information, Shalini Sunil Jadhav, 34, a resident of Dhanoli Tanda in Korpana taluka, Chandrapur district, came to Korpana police station around 7 pm on September 23, 2026. Police questioned her at the time. It has been stated that the woman had demanded that police get gold, money, utensils and clothes retrieved from her house.
Police claim they told her that if she had a complaint against her husband, she should submit it in writing so that action could be taken as per legal procedure. But according to police, the woman refused to file a written complaint and left the police station.
Police say the incident is recorded in the station diary and that CCTV footage of the visit is also available. They say what actually happened can be established from the CCTV footage, the station diary entry and statements of those involved.
The woman has since claimed, "My complaint was not taken at the police station." This has raised questions over whether a complaint was actually submitted, whether it was refused, or whether the woman left the station on her own without filing one.
People connected to the matter have been urged to verify the available CCTV footage, the police station diary entry and details of the official complaint before making any allegations on social media or elsewhere. The appeal was made by Korpana police station in-charge Lata Wadile.
