Without wife's support, man cannot succeed in politics or business: Nitin Gadkari
Union minister Nitin Gadkari said a capable man cannot succeed in politics, social work or business if his wife is not supportive.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari is known for his blunt statements. Whether on a political stage or at a cultural event, whatever Gadkari says tends to spark strong discussion. A few days ago he had claimed that he got the most votes from red light areas. Now he has made a direct comment about wives. Speaking in Nagpur, Gadkari said that if a man's wife is not supportive, then no matter how capable he is, he cannot succeed in politics, social work or business.
He made the remark at a birthday event in Nagpur held to mark the 67th birthday of former legislator Anil Sole, which Gadkari attended. During the event, Sole was given a grand civic felicitation. This was followed by the release of a felicitation book titled 'Avirat Karyarat: Prof. Anil Sole'. Addressing those present at the event, Gadkari recalled old memories.
Nitin Gadkari said, "When I got married, about a hundred to a hundred and fifty cups of tea used to be made at my house. My wife asked me whether I had brought her home as a wife or as a maid. Living a social and political life, one's family has to bear a lot of hardship. I never paid attention to whether the children turned out well or were raised well, but if she had not paid attention, everything would have fallen apart." Gadkari said that behind every person's success is a woman's ability, and he specially praised the work done by women in this way.
Earlier too, Gadkari had made a major statement about red light areas. He had said that in the last election, voting was higher in areas linked to crime, the underworld and red light areas than in educated areas. Educated people may have voted at a rate of 70 to 75 percent, while areas linked to crime and the underworld gave 92 percent votes. He had clarified that this should not be taken to mean that he has ties to people from those areas. He said roads and social works had been carried out in these areas, which is why people there voted for him.
