The West Indies batters flayed the Indian bowlers in the second ODI of the series between India and the West Indies in Guwahati. Centuries from John Campbell and Shai Hope set India a target of 406 to win.

India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision did not appear to pay off today. The West Indies batters rendered the Indian attack completely ineffective and piled up runs.

John Campbell and Keacy Carty opened the innings for the West Indies. Carty was dismissed for just 9. Campbell and Shai Hope then batted aggressively and brilliantly, and the Indian bowlers looked helpless against them.

Campbell was out for 101, while Hope returned to the pavilion after making 104. Amir Jangoo also scored a century. Sherfane Rutherford was dismissed without opening his account, for a duck. Three West Indies batters thus scored centuries.

The West Indies batters did not let the Indian bowlers take many wickets in the first 30 overs. Prasidh Krishna took one wicket and gave India a breakthrough. Gurnoor Brar took two wickets and tried to check the West Indies score somewhat. The spinners also bowled well, with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja taking two wickets each.

India will now have to chase 406 to win the match and the series.

India's playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (captain), Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Naman Dhir, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Gurnoor Brar, Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna.

The West Indies are fielding John Campbell, Justin Greaves, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (captain and wicketkeeper), Amir Jangoo, Jewel Andrew, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales.
