Savner taekwondo players win several medals at district and divisional school meets
Players of the Savner Taluka Taekwondo Club won medals at district and divisional events held under SGFI 2026-27, and three have qualified for the state meet.
Players of the Savner Taluka Taekwondo Club have won several medals at the district and divisional taekwondo competitions held under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) 2026-27. The players performed very well.
The competitions were held at different levels from September 26 to 30 and then from October 1 to 3, 2026. Savner's players showed their skill in all of them.
In the under-14 boys and girls category, Adwed Bisen won the gold medal. The silver medallists include Nelson Mat, Ishwari Malve, Shamili Jangade, Himanshi Bobde, Maisher Shaikh and Sani.
In the same age group, Shaurya Aawte, Om Suryawanshi, Siddhant Bali, Vatsalya Bhongade, Himanshu Aamne and Rehali Sonwane won bronze medals and brought honour to Savner.
Medals were also plentiful in the under-17 boys and girls category. Faiz Shaikh, Purva Khuspare, Tanishka Gurarikar, Parineeta Jogi and Sayali Bankar won gold medals in this category. In the under-19 category, Riya Gupta won gold.
Savner's players were not behind at the divisional taekwondo competition either. Awed Bisen, Purva Khuspare and Tanishka Gurarikar won gold medals there and secured their places. All three have been selected for the state-level taekwondo competition, to be held from October 7 to 9, 2026.
Manoj Baswar, president of the Savner Taluka Taekwondo Association, Kishor Dhundhele, president of the Savner Taluka Marathi Patrakar Sangh, and Mukesh Jharbade, local correspondent of UCN News, congratulated all the winners. They also wished the players a bright future.
The players credited their success to their parents and taekwondo coaches. The coaches include Prashant Raut, Vijay Kuhite, Rushikesh Bhalerao, Karan Nanwatkar, Pratik Bambhore, Vrushabh Chaudhari, Premkumar Gaikwad and Bhavesh Sahare. The programme was conducted by Sayali Bankar.
