Warora police arrest 19-year-old for house theft, confining girl in bedroom
Warora police arrested a 19-year-old student from Temurda within 24 hours of a daytime house break-in in which Rs 5,000 was stolen and a girl was locked in a bedroom.
Warora (Chandrapur): Warora police have arrested Prajwal Pramod Jhile, 19, in a case of house theft in which a girl was locked in a bedroom. Jhile, a student, is a resident of Temurda in Warora tehsil of Chandrapur district. According to police, they traced the accused within 24 hours of the incident, and he confessed to the crime during questioning.
The incident took place on September 30, 2026, at around 3.15 pm. When the complainant's daughter returned home from college, she found the compound wall gate closed but the main door of the house open. Inside, she found an unknown man standing near the bedroom door. He appeared to be about 25 years old and had a scarf tied over his face.
When the frightened girl tried to shout, the man grabbed her hand, pulled her and pushed her into the bedroom. She fell in the scuffle and injured her left elbow and little finger. The man then bolted the bedroom door from outside and fled.
At around 3.30 pm, the complainant returned home from the farm with his wife. They saw the main door open and heard their daughter's voice from inside the bedroom. They immediately opened the bedroom latch and let her out. When the cupboard was checked later, Rs 5,000 in cash kept in it was missing.
On the complainant's report, a case was registered at Warora police station as crime number 1004/2026. It is a case of theft with force under Sections 331(3) and 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
As soon as the FIR was registered, the investigation team of Warora police station, under the guidance of Police Inspector Omprakash Sontakke, began work. Police carried out a technical investigation and sifted information from confidential sources. On this basis, the suspect, Jhile, was taken into custody and questioned closely.
According to police, the accused initially evaded questions, but when police were firm, he confessed within 24 hours. He was then formally arrested on October 1, 2026. Further investigation in the case is continuing.
The action was taken under the guidance of Chandrapur Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani, Additional Superintendent of Police Ishwar Katkade and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Bakal. It was carried out by Police Inspector Omprakash Sontakke, Assistant Sub-Inspector Manish Talewar, head constables Sandeep Mule and Prashant Nagose, and police personnel Vishal Rajurkar, Manoj Thakre, Amol Navghare, Saurabh Kulthe, Sukhraj Yadav and Mahesh Gavture.
