Warora bike stolen after door lock broken while owner was away in Pune
Thieves broke into a locked house in Warora and made off with a Honda CB Shine while the owner was visiting his daughter in Pune.
Maroti Nanaji Hekad (58), a resident of Ashok Vatika in the Borda area of Warora, had gone to Pune on the evening of September 20, 2026, to visit his daughter. Since his house was to remain shut for a few days, he had asked a neighbour and relative, retired employee Sanjay Manoharrao Girtkar (62), and his younger brother Dilip Hekad, to keep an eye on it.
On the morning of September 23, around 7 am, Dilip Hekad went to check on the house as usual and was shocked to find the lock on the compound's main gate and the front door broken. It was clear someone had forced their way in. Household items were found scattered and thrown about, as if someone had been searching for something in a hurry. Dilip immediately called Sanjay Girtkar and informed him about what had happened.
Girtkar reached the spot as soon as he got the call. On checking the house thoroughly, he found that a grey Honda CB Shine motorcycle (registration number MH-34-BS-7479), which had been parked in the yard, was missing. The bike was worth around Rs 60,000. The thieves had also tampered with another vehicle, a Jupiter moped, parked in the yard and tried to fit a key into it, but did not succeed in taking it, so only the one motorcycle was stolen.
When contacted over the phone, house owner Maroti Hekad said no jewellery or cash had been kept in the house. However, once it was confirmed that the motorcycle from the yard had been stolen, he asked that a police complaint be filed.
Sanjay Girtkar gave an oral complaint at the Warora police station. Based on this, police have registered a case against an unidentified thief under sections 305(a) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Under the guidance of Station House Officer Omprakash Sontakke, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Gorakar is investigating the case further.
