Wardha police detain man with sharp knife and moped in Samtanagar area
Wardha City police detained Suraj alias Sonu Shambharkar, 35, on October 2 and seized a knife and a Suzuki Burgman moped, worth Rs 1,01,600 together.
Wardha City police have detained Suraj alias Sonu Chandramani Shambharkar on the charge of keeping a sharp, pointed knife. The incident dates to October 2, 2026. According to police, the action took place between about 6.30 am and 7 am.
Police Havaldar Suhas Sureshrao Chandore (40), posted at Wardha City police station, received a tip-off from a secret informant. The informant said the accused, Suraj alias Sonu Chandramani Shambharkar (35), a resident of Vaishali Buddha Vihar, Samtanagar, Wardha, was arriving on a white Burgman moped. The moped's number was given as MH 32/AQ 4799. According to the informant, he also had a sharp, pointed knife with a pink handle.
On receiving the information, the station's Police Inspector Nageshkumar Chatarkar sent out Police Havaldar Suhas Chandore of the DB squad and his team. Two independent witnesses (panch) accompanied the team. The first is Vijay Mohanrao Mahule (30), a resident of Stationfail, Wardha. The second is Pratham Kishor Phusate (23), a resident of Samtanagar, Sawangi Meghe, Wardha.
The team stopped the accused in front of Aniket College of Social Work at Stationfail, Wardha. When he was searched, police said, a sharp, pointed knife with a pink handle was found in his two-wheeler.
The complainant, Suhas Sureshrao Chandore, then filed a complaint at Wardha City police station. Under crime number 1623/2026, Sections 4 and 25 read with Section 3(1) of the Arms Act, Sections 181 and 130/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act have been invoked.
Police seized the white Suzuki Burgman moped, number MH 32/AQ 4799, valued at Rs 1,00,800. The pink-handled sharp, pointed knife, valued at Rs 800, was also seized.
The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabhkumar Agrawal and Wardha Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. The team was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sunil Mahadik and Wardha City station's Police Inspector Nageshkumar Chatarkar. It included Police Havaldar Suhas Chandore, Police Havaldar Sachin Bharshankar, and police personnel Manoj Kakpure, Navneet Wankhede and Umesh Kumbhare. Police Havaldar Sachin Keshavrao Bharshankar is conducting further investigation.
