A video from Alluri district in Andhra Pradesh shows villagers carrying a woman in labour about three kilometres because no road reaches their village.
A video from Alluri district in Andhra Pradesh, which is drawing wide attention, shows a pregnant woman being carried on a stretcher for about three kilometres because the village has no proper road. The video is said to be from a village in Ananthagiri mandal in the Araku Assembly constituency.
Neelima, a resident of the village, had gone into labour. As there was no motorable path to the village, local people lifted her onto a stretcher and set off. They carried her in this manner to Boddapadu village, about three kilometres away.
It was not a real stretcher either. Walking over rocky, stony paths in the difficult terrain, the villagers had to use a blanket as a stretcher to carry the woman so that she could get treatment as soon as possible.
The biggest problem was that, with no road in the village, an ambulance could not reach her home at all. For this reason, people had to carry the woman on their shoulders themselves. The incident shows that the village does not have proper road connectivity.
People on social media are raising questions about this. Netizens say that even in 2026, basic road access remains hard to come by for some people. According to them, this is only a failure of the administration.
The lack of basic services and paved roads in remote areas has once again brought the shortage of facilities in villages into focus. Whatever the circumstances in the video, some villages in India still do not get essential basic amenities. Such conditions are seen in villages and rural areas where there are no means of connectivity and no primary health centre in the village.
