Vidarbha College marks NSS Foundation Day with enthusiasm
Vidarbha College of Arts, Commerce and Science in Jivati celebrated the National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day in a festive atmosphere. The college is run by the Shri Venkatesh Bahuddeshiya Sanstha of Gadchandur. Dignitaries were specially present at the college for the occasion.
The programme was presided over by college principal Dr Gajanan Raut. Mangam, Dr Shrikant Panghate and Dr Gangadhar Landge attended as chief guests. IQAC coordinator Dr Parvez Ali was also specially present, underlining the importance of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries explained to students in detail the importance of the NSS. They noted that the NSS instils a spirit of social service among students. They also pointed out that the scheme nurtures values such as patriotism, social commitment, environmental conservation, cleanliness and self-discipline among students. The dignitaries made an earnest appeal that students should not confine themselves to studies alone but should actively participate in the development of society.
The programme was conducted by Dr Amit Borkar, while Dr Vaishali Dorlikar proposed the vote of thanks. The entire event was organised by NSS programme officer Dr Sachin G. Yangandalwar, who took the lead from planning through to execution.
All the college's teaching and non-teaching staff attended the event in large numbers, along with a large number of NSS volunteers. The NSS volunteers worked hard and extended cooperation to make the programme a success. The event concluded in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
