Telecom company Vi has announced an AI initiative called 'Vi Intelligence', centred on a lab set up with PwC India to build AI solutions for industries.
Telecom company Vi has announced a new AI initiative called 'Vi Intelligence'. The company says its aim is to bring large AI-led changes to its own operations and to the businesses of its customers.
According to the company, Vi Intelligence will make it much easier for different industries to use advanced AI technology. This can make businesses more efficient and smarter.
The initiative will be centred on the 'Vi Intelligence Lab', which has been set up in partnership with PwC India. The lab will be the main hub for research, development and scaling of the AI solutions that industries need. It will work like a global platform connecting leading AI experts, startups, research institutions and industries. The aim is to use AI to solve real business challenges.
For this, PwC India is to deploy a dedicated Centre of Excellence (CoE) team at Vi's office in Mumbai, it has been learnt.
The lab's work will rest on three strategic pillars: agentic, assistive, and sovereign and responsible AI. These pillars will guide the development of AI measures at the customer, industry and technology-operations levels. The lab will promote the safe and responsible use of AI technology. Data, intellectual property and AI systems will also be used ethically and with full security.
Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Vi, said that in the coming time not just connectivity but the role of "intelligence" will also be extremely important. He said Vi is using the Vi Intelligence Lab to bring global AI expertise, strategic partnerships and the company's digital infrastructure onto a single platform. According to Singh, from improving the quality of customer experience to reworking the internal functioning of different departments, the lab will help organisations adopt AI technology in a very practical and simple way.
Vinish Bawa, Partner and Leader (TMT) at PwC India, said: "We are standing on the threshold of an era in which artificial intelligence (AI) will not only change the way organisations work." According to him, it will also completely change the definition of how organisations innovate, how they compete and how they create value for their stakeholders.
