US woman, 36, makes Google Form to find a husband, gets over 240 responses
Erin Patterson of Charlotte, North Carolina, shared a form titled "Application for a Husband" on social media after dating apps failed her.
Finding a partner for marriage has become a headache for many. Chatting or meeting people on dating apps often leads nowhere. A woman in the United States had the same experience and came up with an unusual solution: she made a Google Form to find a husband.
Erin Patterson, 36, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, is looking for a husband. She tried dating apps but did not find the match she wanted. Fed up, she tried a different approach.
She created a Google Form and titled it "Application for a Husband". She shared the form on her social media and pinned it at the top. Surprisingly, responses began to arrive. More than 250 forms have been filled in so far.
In the form, Erin has spelt out the kind of man she wants: handsome, sensible, kind, loyal and big-hearted. He should be someone who will meet her for coffee or dinner, talk properly and think about taking the relationship forward. "I don't want to hide my expectations," Erin says. "If everything is clear at the start, it saves both people's time and there are no misunderstandings."
The form goes well beyond name, age and village. Erin asks searching questions: What is your career? What does your daily routine look like? What are your habits? What is your view on marriage? What do you think about family? What do you expect from a relationship? She wants to know how the respondent sees life and whether he is truly serious about marriage.
Her post has gone viral on social media, and people are praising her courage. One user commented, "This idea is bold and new. Keep us posted on what happens." Another wrote, "I hope you find a good, loving life partner." A third said, "This is the best idea. I am going to do the same to find my own partner."
Many say women who speak so candidly are rare these days, and the man who meets her will be lucky. When all expectations are clear from the start, there are fewer quarrels later.
What Erin has done may seem a little different, but it is also practical. Her thinking is that, instead of spending months on dating apps, only those who are serious will come forward through a form. It remains to be seen whether she finds a life partner among these 240 applications.
