Two Kingaon Raja students win Amravati division wrestling titles, qualify for state meet
Shubham Shirsath and Omkar Kakad of Kamakshi Devi school in Kingaon Raja won their weight categories and will represent Amravati division at the state level.
Two students of Kamakshi Devi Secondary and Higher Secondary School in Kingaon Raja have won divisional-level wrestling competitions and qualified for the state-level event. The achievement adds another honour to the school's sporting record.
The divisional competition was organised by the Maharashtra State Directorate of Sports, Pune, at the District Sports Complex in Amravati. Bouts were held in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
Shubham Ravindra Shirsath won first place for Amravati division in the under-19, 65 kg freestyle category. Omkar Sunil Kakad took first place in the under-17, 48 kg Greco-Roman category.
Both students showed fine technique, strength and confidence against their opponents and won the divisional titles. They will now represent Amravati division in the upcoming state-level freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions.
Principal Uddhav Darade, sports trainers Sunil Kakad and Raju Chandwade, and assistant teachers Ramdas Sanap, Prakash Sonune, Sanjay Kekan, Gajanan Mundhe, Rajiv Mante, Nitin Kharat, Gajanan Thigale, Sanjay Kalsuse, Uddhav Rathod, Gavai, Gopal Pawar, Ganesh Kalsuse and Rameshwar Harkal were among the teachers and staff present.
The school welcomed and praised Shirsath and Kakad for their achievement. The success is being credited to sustained practice, the guidance of sports trainers, and the encouragement of the school's teachers and parents.
School president Shivajirao Kalsuse also welcomed and commended the winning students and wished them well for the state-level competition. He expressed hope that the students would prepare with the same determination and hard work and bring honour to the school and to Amravati division.
