Kota in Rajasthan is known across the country for its coaching centres, and students from all over India come here to prepare for competitive examinations. Allen, one of the city's well-known coaching centres, is being talked about on social media these days.
According to the available information, two Class 11 students began arguing over some matter, and the small quarrel soon turned into a fight. Both studied in the same class. A viral video claims the two were fighting over a girl student. The quarrel later turned into a violent brawl.
Panic spread among the other students present at the time, and chaos broke out at the spot. Several videos later went viral on social media. The videos claimed that one student took a pistol out of his bag and fired at the other. On social media the incident was described as a shooting.
Local police, on the basis of a preliminary inquiry, have called the reports of firing false. According to police, no firing took place at the time of the incident. The inquiry found that the student concerned had a metal air gun. It looks like a weapon but is not real; it is a fake pistol.
Police said the student hit the other student with the back of the pistol, injuring him. The injured student is currently undergoing treatment. Officials have taken the fake pistol into their custody.
Police are investigating the whole matter. They are also questioning what the bad blood between the two students was about. After the videos went viral, questions are being raised about the coaching centre's arrangements and security. The administration and the coaching management have been asked to respond.
