Two brothers booked in Savli after dispute over oil on dinner plate at housewarming turns violent

A dispute over the oil on a food plate at the vastushanti ceremony of a new house in Savli, Chandrapur district, escalated into a physical assault. Savli police have registered a case against two real brothers under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. According to the complaint, two people were injured. The incident has caused alarm in the area.

According to information from the police, complainant Nana Ashok Medpalliwar (32, a resident of Shigampur, Savli tehsil) came to the police station and lodged an oral complaint. He said his cousin Rohit Shankar Medpalliwar has a new house in Ward No. 7 of Savli. The vastushanti ceremony for the house was held on November 6, 2026. Nana Medpalliwar had gone to attend it with his family and another cousin, Akash Bhagwan Medpalliwar. The dispute began at night while everyone was having dinner.

According to the complaint, between 8 pm and 8.30 pm, Akash Medpalliwar noticed that his plate had a great deal of oil. He went to the caterer who was managing the food arrangements and asked, "Brother, there seems to be a lot of oil in this plate. What is all this oil?" The complaint says Golu Kawle, who runs the catering, flared up at the question. He told Akash, "If you want to eat, eat quietly, don't talk nonsense", and began abusing him.

According to the complaint, when Akash objected to the abuse, the accused Golu Kawle began beating him badly with his hands and fists. Seeing his brother being beaten, Nana Medpalliwar stepped forward to intervene. Meanwhile, Golu Kawle's brother Vikrant Kawle arrived and struck Nana hard on the head and left eye with a wooden staff, the complaint says. The complainant says the two brothers together hit him and Akash with a staff and with hands and fists, causing serious injuries to his head and near his left eye.

Shaken and injured, Nana Medpalliwar then went straight to Savli police station and told the police everything. On his complaint, Savli police have registered a case against the accused Golu Kawle and Vikrant Kawle, both residents of Ward No. 7, Savli, Chandrapur district, under Sections 118(1), 296, 3 and 5 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.
