Two brothers absconding for 18 months held in Pune while working at old-age home and gym

The Pune Police crime branch has arrested two brothers who had been absconding for a year and a half. Both are accused in a serious case registered in the Sahakarnagar police station area, and the police had listed them on record as wanted and absconding. Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad No. 1 of the crime branch caught them.

The arrested accused are Sagar Shailesh Gaikwad (25) and Aakash Shailesh Gaikwad (26). Both are residents of Pune. The investigation has found that the two had taken up jobs to escape the police. One brother worked at an old-age home in Susgaon, while the other worked at a gym in the Katraj-Kondhwa area.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Gauhar Hasan. Police Inspector Maruti Khedkar of Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad No. 1 led the team, which included police personnel Dnyaneshwar Pingle, Amit Gadre, Parmeshwar Narwade, Saikumar Karke, Sadhana Pawar and Ajit Shinde.

Sections 74, 333, 115(2), 352 and 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been invoked in the case registered at Sahakarnagar police station. The two accused had been evading the police for the past year and a half. Senior officers had ordered a search for wanted and absconding accused on record, and the clue to these two emerged during that exercise.

Police personnel Dnyaneshwar Pingle of the team received reliable information that the accused Sagar Gaikwad was working at the 'Shri Mauli Old Age Home' in Paygude Nagar, Susgaon. Meanwhile, police personnel Amit Gadre got wind that the accused Aakash Gaikwad was working at 'World Fitness Gym' in Tilekar Nagar.

Following this information, the team laid a trap at the same time in the Susgaon and Katraj-Kondhwa areas. The police detained both accused from the two places in filmy style. During questioning, they confessed to the crime in the case. Both have since been handed over to Sahakarnagar police for further legal action.
