Pardi police in Nagpur have arrested two men accused of threatening to tell a woman's husband about an alleged affair and demanding Rs 3 lakh in return. They are also accused of entering her home carrying a knife and a wooden stick.

According to police, the arrested men have been identified as Shekhar Verma and Lucky Rahate. The charges against both are based on the complaint at this stage.

According to the complaint, the 25-year-old woman had earlier worked for Shekhar Verma in catering. She said she was uncomfortable with his behaviour and left the job.

The woman alleges that after she quit, Shekhar began threatening her and accusing her of having an affair. He allegedly threatened to tell her husband and demanded Rs 3 lakh to keep it secret.

The complaint states that on September 29 the woman was alone at home while her husband was at work. It is alleged that Shekhar arrived at her house with his associate, Lucky Rahate.

The woman says both had a knife and a wooden stick. She alleged that Shekhar brandished the knife and threatened to kill her, while his associate allegedly threatened to attack her with the stick.

When the woman raised an alarm, people from the neighbourhood gathered at the spot. The two accused then allegedly fled.

On the basis of the complaint, Pardi police registered a case under serious sections, including attempt to murder and the Arms Act, and arrested both accused. Police are now investigating the allegations and the circumstances of the incident further. The investigation is continuing and no final finding has been made on the allegations.
