When cockroaches and red ants start appearing in the kitchen, cleaning it thoroughly becomes an urgent task, and getting rid of cockroaches in particular is not easy. Sprays available in the market are quite effective, but they contain chemicals that are not considered good for health. This makes a good homemade remedy something everyone wants.

Actress and writer Twinkle Khanna recently shared information on this topic on social media. In a reel posted on the Instagram page of "Tweak India", she explained that a mixture made from cloves, bay leaves and vinegar can be sprayed into kitchen drawers and cabinet corners. According to her, this mixture can help keep cockroaches and red ants away from the kitchen.

She also explained how to make this homemade spray. First, eight to ten cloves and two to three bay leaves are taken. These are lightly crushed or ground so that their properties mix well into the water. Then one cup of water and one cup of vinegar are poured into a container, and the crushed cloves and bay leaves are added to it.

This mixture has to be boiled for a few minutes. After boiling, the gas is switched off and the mixture is allowed to cool. It is then strained thoroughly so that no piece of clove or bay leaf remains in it. After straining, the mixture is filled into a clean spray bottle. It can then be sprayed lightly into kitchen drawers, cabinet corners and wherever cockroaches or ants are seen.

In her characteristically humorous style, Twinkle Khanna also said that if she could use this spray on humans, it would help her get rid of two-legged and six-legged guests who arrive late at night. However, she added that rather than relying on the spray alone, it is equally important to keep the kitchen clean, not leave food scraps lying around in the open, dispose of garbage on time and keep moisture under control to avoid a cockroach problem.
