Triumph Motorcycles has launched its new Bonneville T40 in the Indian market, in the premium retro motorcycle segment. The ex-showroom price is Rs 2.80 lakh and deliveries will begin in November 2026. The company has also introduced the Bonneville T4, which has fewer features.
The motorcycle is built on the 350cc single-cylinder platform developed in partnership with Bajaj. Even so, it has been substantially modified, from engine tuning to the frame.
The Bonneville T40 is powered by a 350cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 29hp of power and 31.2Nm of torque. The engine has been specially tuned for strong performance in the low and mid-range. It gets a new cylinder head, camshaft, a shorter throttle body and a special pea-shooter exhaust. The 6-speed gearbox comes with comparatively tall gearing.
Among the features, the motorcycle gets a 4-inch colour TFT display, along with 5 riding modes, cruise control, traction control and lean-sensitive ABS. A "Heritage" display mode gives the rider the experience of an old-time retro look. Once a smartphone is connected, turn-by-turn navigation is available through Triumph's navigation app.
On size and weight, the Bonneville T40 weighs 195kg and has a 14.5-litre fuel tank. Seat height is 790mm, which can be lowered to 770mm with an accessory low seat. Ground clearance is 165mm. It has a 43mm telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The motorcycle has spoke wheels with tube tyres.
For those who find the T40 expensive, the Bonneville T4 is an option, priced at Rs 2.55 lakh. It gets a colour LCD display, navigation, riding modes and dual-channel ABS, but not cruise control or an IMU. Deliveries of the T4 will begin in January 2027. Bookings for both models are open.
