Warora police have booked five unidentified men under the BNS for a life-threatening assault on a transport firm supervisor at Ekona mine on November 1.
A supervisor with a transport company was attacked with intent to kill on the Ekona mine premises in Warora taluka. Warora police have registered a case against five unidentified men. According to the complaint, the incident took place around 2 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The injured supervisor is Mangesh Dilip Chavan, 27, a resident of Snehal Nagar, Abhyankar Ward, Chandrapur. In his complaint he said he had been working for two years as a supervisor with Rahul Thakur's transport business at the Ekona mine.
According to the complaint, Chavan was sleeping under a tree at the Ekona mine stockyard when a red Swift Dzire car arrived. Its registration number could not be ascertained. Five unidentified men got out, each carrying an iron rod and sticks. Two of them had cloth tied over their faces, while three had their faces uncovered.
The complaint says the men first abused him and then brutally beat him with the rods and sticks on his arms, legs, chest and back. He is seriously injured and has internal injuries. He was admitted to the sub-district hospital in Warora, where he is undergoing treatment.
On Chavan's complaint, police have booked the five unidentified accused under Sections 118(1), 352, 189(2), 190 and 191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, at Warora police station. No arrest has been reported so far.
Several transport companies carry coal at the Ekona mine, among them KGN Transport, Chatta Transport, Thakur Transport and Sultan Transport. According to preliminary police information, KGN Transport and Sultan Transport do not want local people from Warora to work there, and the attack is said to have stemmed from this dispute. The case has been described as linked to a quarrel over coal transport and an old rivalry.
Sub-inspector Ajinkya Anil Pawar is investigating the case further. The attackers are yet to be identified and traced.
