Three of family killed as trailer rams bike near Jamtha on Wardha Road in Nagpur
A couple and one of their two children died and the other child was critically injured when a speeding trailer hit their motorcycle from behind on Saturday evening.
Three people on a motorcycle, a husband, his wife and a child, were killed in a road accident in Nagpur district on Saturday, October 3. Another child was critically injured.
According to police, the couple were travelling with their two children from Nagpur city towards Butibori. The motorcycle's registration number is MH 40 HV 5067. At around 7 pm they had reached the Wardha Road near Jamtha village, close to the Gavsi-Manapur villages, when a speeding trailer hit them hard from behind. The trailer's registration number is reported as HR 55 AX 8278.
The impact was so severe that the husband, the wife and one child died on the spot. The other child suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where treatment is under way.
The dead have not yet been identified, and police have not been able to establish their names. Efforts to identify them are said to be continuing.
On learning of the accident, Hingna police station in-charge Pramod Ghonge reached the spot with a police team. Police said a panchnama of the scene would be drawn up, after which the three bodies would be sent for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case against the trailer driver. Further investigation is being carried out under Ghonge's supervision.
Police said the trailer was speeding and hit the motorcycle from behind. The cause of the accident and other details will emerge in the investigation. No further information has been given on the injured child's condition.
