Three no-oil, no-gas snacks: from curd bread chaat to cold sandwich
With obesity on the rise, here are three quick snacks that need neither gas nor oil: curd bread chaat, cucumber-paneer bites and a veg cold sandwich.
Obesity is on the rise, and many people are turning to no-oil cooking, where food is tasty but uses no oil. It may seem hard to make anything without oil, but some snacks need neither gas nor oil. This saves fuel, and dishes made without oil are considered healthier.
Here are recipes for three such snacks, which can be included in a daily diet routine.
The first is curd bread chaat, which can be made for a light evening hunger. Cut the bread into small pieces. Take thick curd in a bowl and mix in salt, roasted cumin powder and chaat masala. Spread this mixture over the bread pieces. Top with chopped onion, tomato and coriander leaves. Finally, garnish with green chutney, sweet chutney and fine sev to taste. The curd bread chaat is ready to eat.
The second snack is cucumber-paneer bites. Both cucumber and paneer are described as very important for health. Cut the cucumber into round slices and make cubes of paneer. Place one paneer cube on each cucumber round. Sprinkle black salt, roasted cumin and chaat masala on top. Green chutney can be added if desired. It is described as a good option for a light snack.
The third snack is for those who like sandwiches: a veg cold sandwich made without oil or gas. In a bowl, mix finely chopped cucumber, tomato, onion and carrot. Add mayonnaise, black pepper powder and salt to taste. Spread the mixture evenly on one bread slice, place a second slice on top and press lightly. Cut the sandwich into two pieces with a knife and serve it cold.
None of the three snacks needs gas or oil, and all can be ready in a short time.
