A dispute over compensation after a road accident near Vasudev Nagar metro station in Nagpur escalated to the point of misbehaviour with police personnel on duty. Three people are accused of pushing and abusing the police. The matter reached the MIDC police station, and MIDC police have registered a case against all three and begun an investigation.

A call about the accident came in on Dial-112 at around 4.59 pm on Saturday. Constable Amit Khapekar and Constable Nilesh reached the spot. An Activa scooter, MH-40-DL-2738, and an Ashok Leyland truck, MH-49-BZ-1939, had collided. Rupesh Raut, who was riding the Activa, was injured.

The police promptly called an ambulance and sent the injured Rupesh to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the truck driver, Deepak Mishra, a resident of Rameshwari Nagar, began demanding that the injured man pay for the damage. The police explained to him that they do not settle compensation disputes at the scene.

Angered by this, Deepak reportedly called his father and brother to the spot. The three began arguing with the police and abusing them, and later pushed them as well.

The matter did not end there. The three are accused of following the police personnel to the police station and threatening there to have them suspended.

Following the incident, Constable Amit Khapekar filed a complaint. On that complaint, MIDC police have registered a case against the three accused. Police are now investigating the entire sequence of events.
