Schools lying closed within the Nashik Municipal Corporation area will be reopened. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse has directed officials to restart them with the necessary repairs and basic facilities. He also asked that the focus be on creating a safe, clean and well-equipped learning environment for children in these schools.

Mr Bhuse said an effective plan and a concrete action plan must be drawn up, and implemented, to increase enrolment in municipal schools.

Mr Bhuse visited three schools in Nashik city: Municipal Primary School No. 30 in Panchavati, the Municipal Secondary School in CIDCO and Municipal School No. 56 in Jail Road. He reviewed the learning facilities, classrooms, the present condition of the buildings, basic amenities and the state of the children's studies.

Mayor Himgauri Aher-Adke, Deputy Mayor Vilas Shinde, Ajay Boraste and Pravin Tidme were present, along with officials concerned from the municipal administration.

Mr Bhuse directed that the present condition of all schools currently closed in the municipal area be examined and that they be sorted properly into categories. Where a school's building or premises need repairs, the work has been ordered to be completed on priority and quickly. Officials were also asked to ensure the basic facilities, cleanliness, security, classrooms and other amenities for children that are needed to reopen the schools.

According to Mr Bhuse, it is as important for municipal school buildings and premises to look attractive as it is for children to get good learning facilities. He said that if schools have a positive and cheerful atmosphere, parents' view of municipal schools will also improve.

He therefore directed that the matter should not end with merely reopening closed schools, and that a concrete action plan to increase enrolment be prepared and implemented effectively.

During the visits, officials were asked for details of the educational resources, facilities for children and necessary improvements at the schools. Mr Bhuse also directed the officials concerned to act immediately to finish, within a fixed time, any essential work that is held up.
