Mohammad Nadeem Hussain died during treatment; his family alleges acid was thrown on his face before he was shut in his shop and the shop set on fire.

A shocking incident has come to light in Bihar's Siwan district. Mohammad Nadeem Hussain, 30, a resident of Saraiya village under the GB Nagar police station area, was reportedly the victim of an acid attack and died while undergoing treatment. Tension has built up in the village and surrounding areas after the incident.

Nadeem's family has made a serious allegation. According to them, acid was first thrown on his face. He was then locked inside his own shop, and the shop was set on fire. The allegation is yet to be established in the investigation.

The deceased's sister, Afsana Khatoon, said she learnt of the attack on her brother at around 8 pm on Wednesday. She was told that acid had been thrown on his face, that he had been set on fire, and that the shutter of the shop had been shut. She said she rushed to the spot as soon as she heard, and found her brother in a critical condition. Afsana also said that because of his condition he could not name the suspects who attacked him.

After the post-mortem examination, Nadeem's body was brought to Alawalpur village in the Chauki Hasan panchayat area. There, the angry family members placed the body in the middle of the road and began a protest. The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the accused in the case. They also pressed for the suspension of the officer in charge of GB Nagar police station.

Afsana Khatoon appealed to the Siwan District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police to come to the spot themselves and take action against the guilty. She said those who threw acid on her brother, burned him and shut him in the shop should be traced and face strict legal action.

On receiving information about the incident, Siwan Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ashutosh Kumar Gupta and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pranjal reached the spot with a police team. They spoke to the angry family members and villagers and tried to calm the situation.

SDO Ashutosh Kumar Gupta said an FIR has been registered in the case. Saying that the situation is currently under control, he made it clear that anyone found guilty in the investigation would be arrested soon and face legal action.
