Tehsildars have been told to collect complete land details for 19 villages in Gondpipri taluka for the new Gadchiroli-Shirpur broad-gauge line.
The process of acquiring land in 19 villages of Gondpipri taluka has begun for the new Gadchiroli-Shirpur broad-gauge rail line. The administration has taken the initial steps and tehsildars have been directed to collect complete details of land in these villages. The move is expected to give the big rail project momentum at the administrative level.
The action was started on a letter from the South East Central Railway's Nagpur office and on the directions of the Chandrapur District Collector. As the railway administration requested, the Gondpipri tehsildar has sent an official letter to the patwaris concerned and to land acquisition officers, asking them to provide the necessary records.
The villages whose land details are being collected are Sonapur Deshpande, Chak Darur, Chek Wedgaon, Bhangaram Talodhi, Bhangarpeth, Vitthalwada, Kirmiri, Dhamangaon, Yenbothla, Wedgaon, Darur, Sakmur, Hirapur, Adegaon, Chak Navegaon, Chak Vitthalwada, Chak Nandgaon, Chakbapur and Tarsa Khurd. The administration has begun the survey and collection of records for the land proposed for the rail line in these villages.
For the land in these villages, details including survey numbers, area, type of land and the names of landowners have to be given to the administration. Directions have been issued to submit the necessary revenue records in the prescribed format, along with copies of the village form 7/12. The next administrative action on acquisition will follow only after the initial land information needed for the rail project is received. Farmers and landowners in these villages are therefore watching the process closely.
When land is taken for the rail line, the farmers and landowners concerned must receive fair compensation as per law. Accurate assessment of land value and a transparent process are also necessary. Proper verification of the area, type of land, ownership and other revenue records will be important. Taking farmers into confidence and giving them the necessary information, keeping the picture clear on how land value is fixed, and following legal provisions will be a major challenge for the administration.
The Gadchiroli-Shirpur rail line is considered an important project for travel and freight movement in the region. It is hoped that it will later boost transport, trade, industry, employment and economic development in rural areas. The land acquisition process will be crucial in bringing the project on the ground. For now, only the initial administrative process of collecting land details for the 19 villages has begun, and people in these villages are keeping an eye on the acquisition action that follows. Overall, administrative activity over the rail line has picked up in Gondpipri taluka.
