Singer Kanika Kapoor announces separation from husband Gautam four years after marriage

Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor, known for hit songs such as "Baby Doll" and "Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan", has announced that she is separating from her husband four years after their marriage. She shared the news with fans herself in a post and expressed her sadness. She also requested that her private life not be intruded upon.

Kapoor wrote on her official Instagram story: "Dear friends and family, after a lot of thought, my husband and I have decided to part ways. I am grateful for the time we spent together. I wish him all the very best for the future. I request you all for kindness, and also request you to please refrain from intruding on our private life. Love to all, Kanika." Earlier in the post she had written, "We thought long and hard."

In the post, Kapoor spoke of separating from her husband Gautam but made no mention of divorce. She also did not give a reason for the separation.

Kapoor had earlier said of her relationship with Gautam Hathiramani that the two had known each other for 15 years and were very close friends. The singer had also said that she herself had proposed marriage to Gautam twice, first in 2014 and again in 2020. In August 2021, Gautam proposed to her. The two married in London on May 20, 2022, in the presence of family.

This was Kapoor's second marriage. In 1998 she had married industrialist Raj Chandok, when she was only 18. They have three children: two daughters, Ayana and Samara, and a son, Yuvraj.

After her marriage to Chandok, Kapoor settled in London. She separated from him in 2012. She then returned to India and built a career in singing here.
