Sindewahi: Iron goods stolen from ITI shed, two arrested
Police in Sindewahi arrested two men after iron scrap and a window frame were stolen from a government ITI shed.
A case of iron goods being stolen from an old shed at the government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Sindewahi, Chandrapur district, has come to light. Sindewahi police have arrested two suspects in the case.
The incident took place around 4 pm on September 22, 2026, when storekeeper Ravishankar Ramratan Randhai (38), who works at the ITI, received a call from security guard Khobragade saying he suspected goods had been stolen from the shed in front of the old ITI building. Randhai reached the ITI premises at 10 pm and found the shed's wire mesh broken. It emerged that iron scrap from the welding, fitting and mechanical departments, along with a valuable leg vice kept in the shed, was missing.
To catch those responsible, storekeeper Randhai and guard Khobragade began quietly keeping watch on the ITI premises around 5 am the next day, September 23. During this, they saw two men stealing an iron window frame from the scrap lying in the shed. They immediately called Sindewahi police, who reached the spot and arrested the two suspects. During questioning, they were identified as Anil Bhute and Tulshiram Maske.
During the action, police seized a 30-kilogram piece of an iron window frame worth Rs 750, along with the remaining iron scrap in the shed worth Rs 5,000, taking the total value of goods recovered to Rs 5,750. Police suspect the same accused may also be behind the earlier theft of the leg vice and other scrap from the ITI shed, though this remains a suspicion.
Anil Santosh Bhute (45) and Tulshiram Narayan Maske (60), both residents of Lonwahi in Sindewahi tehsil, have been named as the accused. Based on a complaint by storekeeper Ravishankar Randhai, a case has been registered at Sindewahi police station under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police Constable Darshan Latkar is investigating further.
