The social justice department of the Shiv Sena will hold a "Dhamma Samata Jagruti bike rally" in Mumbai on October 14. The rally has been planned to take Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's idea of Dhammakranti to the common people. Former MLA Ram Pandagale said Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be present at the gathering to be held at the end of the rally.
The rally will begin at 9 am, after paying respects at the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar near Mantralaya. Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Sachin Ahir will flag it off. Following the fixed route, the rally will reach Chaityabhoomi in the afternoon, where a public Dhamma sabha has been organised and the rally will conclude with it.
The organisers said Industries Minister Uday Samant and Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat will also be present at the gathering along with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
October 14, 1956, is an important day in Indian history. On this day, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhist Dhamma at Nagpur and gave the message of equality, liberty, fraternity and humanity. The bike rally has been planned for this historic occasion. The organisers want the idea of Dhamma and the message of social equality and brotherhood to reach different sections of society through the rally.
Aryan More, Mumbai president of the Shiv Sena's social justice department, has taken the initiative for organising the rally, while former MLA Ram Pandagale is the guide of the undertaking. The organisers claim this is the first attempt by a political party to hold such a rally for Dhamma Samata Jagruti.
According to the organisers, the aim of the rally is to take Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's idea of equality, the role of social justice and the message of brotherhood to the new generation. Political and social circles are watching the event in Mumbai on Dhammachakra Day.
