Sawner deaf school honours achievers with Jeevan Sadhana and Jeevan Gaurav awards
A deaf school in Sawner handed out Jeevan Sadhana, Jeevan Gaurav and Divyang Samman awards on its foundation day.
The Sawner Resident School for the Deaf held its award ceremony with great enthusiasm this time on the institution and school's foundation day. The school is run by the Shri Mangal Multipurpose Education, Technical Education and Training Institution of Ramnagar, Nagpur. The Jeevan Sadhana Award, Jeevan Gaurav Award and Divyang Samman Award were given at the ceremony, with several dignitaries from the area as well as students, teachers and parents in attendance.
Mukund Sarmukaddam and Mrs. Shaila Sarmukaddam attended as chief guests. Also present on stage were institution president Prashantrao Davale, secretary Narayanrao Samarth, joint secretary Dr. Amit Chede, treasurer Nikhil Samarth, administrative officer Mrs. Mangalatai Samarth, headmistress Mrs. Suvarna Mahashabde and Mrs. Shwetatai Samarth.
The ceremony began with the guests lighting a lamp, after which the school welcomed the chief guests with bouquets and mementoes.
Shri Dwarkadas Katkoria and Mrs. Harsha Katkoria were given the Jeevan Sadhana Award for their work. Mrs. Anuradha Vinay Kurhekar was honoured with the Jeevan Gaurav Samman for her contribution in the social and spiritual fields.
The Dr. Govindrao Samarth Memorial Divyang Samman Award was given in memory of Akshay Prakash Injewar. Akshay had obtained higher education through determination and hard work despite difficult circumstances. In addition, another person was honoured with the late Rukminibai Govindrao Samarth Memorial Divyang Samman Award.
In his speech, Mukund Sarmukaddam praised the work and effort of all the award winners. He said awards such as Jeevan Gaurav are not merely a mark of honour but also an inspiration for the younger generation.
Every award winner was honoured with a shawl, coconut, citation, memento and bouquet. The award winners, speaking after receiving their honours, praised the work of the institution and school and thanked them for the recognition. They also said the honour had given them the courage to do even better work going forward.
On the occasion, institution secretary Narayanrao Samarth and administrative officer Mrs. Mangalatai Samarth were also honoured with a citation on behalf of Shri Dwarkadas Katkoria and his family.
The entire programme was compered by Sanjay Lunge. Institution secretary Narayanrao Samarth delivered the opening address, while headmistress Mrs. Suvarna Mahashabde thanked all the guests and citizens who attended. The award winners were introduced by the school's speech expert Mrs. Durga Chede.
The programme was attended by the award winners' family members along with a large number of local residents, members of the senior citizens association, students and teachers. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, after which everyone sat together for a community meal. All the school's teaching and non-teaching staff helped make the event a success, and an atmosphere of enthusiasm and respect prevailed throughout the programme.
