Samsung Galaxy A08 4G vs Moto G37 Power: which phone is better under Rs 20,000
Samsung's new Galaxy A08 4G and the Moto G37 Power share a 120Hz display and 50MP camera but differ in processor, battery, software support and price.
Buyers shopping for a smartphone around the Rs 20,000 mark have many options. In this segment, Samsung has launched its new Galaxy A08 4G. The Moto G37 Power is already on the market, offering 5G connectivity and a large 7,000mAh battery.
Both phones have a 120Hz display and a 50MP rear camera. But they differ widely in processor, display, battery and software support. Here is how they compare.
Starting with display and design: the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has a 6.7-inch HD+ Infinity-U LCD display with a resolution of 720x1600 pixels. It carries an IP64 rating, meaning protection against dust and water splashes. It weighs 197 grams and is 8mm thick. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also provided.
The Moto G37 Power has a 6.6-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 720x1604 pixels. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 120Hz touch sampling and up to 1,050 nits of HBM brightness. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone also has IP64 and MIL-STD-810H certification.
The processors differ. The Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with 4GB LPDDR5X RAM and 64GB storage. Storage can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card.
The Moto G37 Power has a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, with 4GB to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The RAM Boost feature can extend RAM to 12GB, and a microSD card can expand storage up to 1TB.
Samsung leads in software support. The Galaxy A08 4G runs One UI 8 based on Android 16. Samsung has promised 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates for the phone. It also offers Circle to Search 3.0, AI features and the benefits of Samsung's connected ecosystem. The Moto G37 Power also runs Android 16, but on available information, its long-term software support could prove an important difference compared with Samsung.
On cameras, the two phones are nearly equal. The Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has a 50MP f/1.8 main rear camera, a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front camera. The Moto G37 Power also has a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with PDAF support, a light sensor in place of a secondary camera, and an 8MP front camera. The camera hardware does not differ much.
On battery, the Moto G37 Power is clearly ahead, with a 7,000mAh battery, 30W wired fast charging and 6W reverse wired charging. The Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has a 6,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging. It has a USB Type-C port along with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On price, the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G starts at Rs 18,499 in India for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The Moto G37 Power starts at Rs 19,999 with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
So which to pick? If 5G connectivity, the larger 7,000mAh battery and 128GB storage matter more, the Moto G37 Power is the better option. For longer software updates, Samsung's features and a slightly lower price, the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G can be considered.
In short, the Moto G37 Power suits those who want battery life and 5G, while the Galaxy A08 4G suits those who want software support and the Samsung ecosystem.
